James Hanley and Susan Carrington
JAMES HANLEY (1818-8/22/87) m. SUSAN CARRINGTON (1821-2/15/1901)
CHILDREN:
JAMES & SUSAN ARRIVED IN NYC ON NOVEMBER 22, 1847 ABOARD THE CREOLE. They first emigrated to Vermont By the 1850 census they were living in Salisbury Township, LaSalle County, Illinois.
They purchased land in Waltham Township, LaSalle County, Ill. 1852. Family
still lives on the family farm there. (It's at the Intersection of Interstate 80 & 39)
Many Ballykilcline kinfolk settled there, and their descendants still do. This includes the CONNORS, SHANLEYS, NEARYS, CARLIN AND BRANNON.
Of James and Susan's 8 surviving children only 2 married. JAMES HANLEY Jr. m, in 1882, ROSABELLE COLEMAN. She was the daughter of Peter Coleman and Mary Hanley. Their children were: JAMES, PETER, EDWARD, DENNIS, LAURETTA, ROSEMARY, JOHN AND SUSANNE. They all stayed in Waltham.
IN 1884, THOMAS HANLEY m. ELIZABETH COLEMAN, also the daughter of Peter
Coleman and Mary Hanley. Their children were: MARY LAURETTA, SUSAN, DENNIS, ROSABELLE, PETER AND THOMAS. These children also remained in Waltham.
ROSABELLE born 11/13/1894 IN WALTHAM TOWNSHIP. Married 3/2/1913, EDWARD HARMON , son of Joseph Harmon and Bridget Murtaugh. BELLE d. 5/17/1981, ED d. 4/24/1958. Their children were HANLEY, DONALD, THOMAS (LEROY) AND KENNETH. HANLEY HARMON and brother LEROY HARMON both passed away on 11/29/1998.
KENNETH HARMON was b. 9/2/23. m. LORETTA LINDENMIER daughter of Joseph
Lindenmier and Emily McGrath on 1/17/1945. They had 3 children: Gary, Maureen and Edward. Edward born 5/15/1951, m. Mary Jane Zukowski 8/31/1973. Twins MATTHEW & LUKE, BORN: 5/24/79.
After 148 years in Illinois they are the only remaining Hanley or Harmon farmers in that area and still live on the same property...Belle and Ed's farmhouse. The original house where Hanley Harmon was born still stands on the property.
